Gøtuvík welcomes its first cruise ship.
In May 2026, Gøtuvík welcomed its very first cruise ship - an important milestone for Gøtuvík and the development of cruise tourism in the area.
Around 80 guests came ashore and experienced the villages of Gøta and Leirvík through local culture, history and activities. The first cruise call was a great success, thanks to a cooperation between local businesses, experience operators, residents and the municipality.
Gøtuvík's approach to cruise tourism is to develop at a scale that suits our small villages, with fewer, smaller ships and local people having an active part in welcoming guests.
Following the successful first visit, Gøtuvík looks forward to welcoming cruise guests back in summer 2027, with further calls expected in the coming years.
