Cruise season has begun.

Early May marked the beginning of the cruise season in the Faroe Islands, with the first calls already made to the ports of Tórshavn and Runavík.

Port of Tórshavn welcomed its first cruise ship of the year when Ocean Explorer, operated by Quark Expeditions, made its maiden call to the Faroese capital with 88 passengers onboard.

The following day, Port of Runavík welcomed Ocean Explorer to the village of Funningur, one of Port of Runavík’s expedition destination.

This year’s cruise season looks promising, with more than 100 calls expected across the various Faroese cruise ports. One port i preparing to welcome its very first cruise ship calls.

At Cruise Faroe Islands, we are pleased to see continued growth in the cruise industry — both in the number of cruise ports and overall calls. It is especially encouraging to see more cruise ships making multiple calls while visiting the Faroe Islands, creating opportunities for more local communities across the islands.
