At the first general meeting of the cruise association Cruise Faroe Islands, a new board was elected.

At the meeting, Chairman Magni V. Mouritsen presented the activities from the association’s first year. He spoke about the work involved in establishing the organization, meetings with relevant stakeholders, onboarding new members, participation in conferences and events, and the initial efforts to develop communication platforms.

New website

At the general meeting, the association’s new website was officially launched. The website presents the members of the association and provides information on how interested parties can get in touch with them. The site is in English and targets the international B2B market. The new website is: cruisefaroeislands.fo.

New board members

Two board positions were up for election, and Anja Magnussen (representing the ports of Vágar and Sørvágur Municipality) and Alina Jespersen (representing agents) were elected. The board has constituted itself as follows:

• Secretary: Magnus Pauli West
• Treasurer: Alina Jespersen
• Board Member: Astrid Johannessen
• Board Member: Anja Magnussen

Members attending the meeting highlighted the positive development within the cruise industry and its value to local communities and the local business sector. Discussions focused on the positive growth that members are part of, and how this development supports and strengthens both larger and smaller destinations across the Faroe Islands.

The cruise season begins in early May, when the first cruise ship arrives at a Faroese port. However, ports, tour operators, and agents have been preparing for these visits well in advance.

Cruise Faroe Islands looks ahead positively to the upcoming season, with more port calls and an increasing number of ports expressing interest in entering the cruise industry.
